We will be discussing the ins and outs of alcohol, marijuana, stimulants (methamphetamine, cocaine) and opioids (prescription pain pills, heroin). This will include the slang terms, prevalence, the impact on the brain and body, and treatment options. Come and learn how substance use impacts the child welfare system!

Devin Sweat (Moderator)
Devin graduated from Colorado State University in 2012. She has worked with substance use populations for the last ten years including roles in adolescent residential treatment, runaway youth shelter, detox, case management, and integrated care. Devin is currently enrolled in a masters of social work program at Metro with a projected graduation date of May 2023. She currently works at Denver Health, providing individual counseling for substance use disorders and manages the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. Devin's professional mission is to decrease stigma and increase access to services for marginalized populations.
