Be the Source is thrilled to welcome Jacque Phillips, Special Education Attorney and Colorado House of Representatives member in District 31.

Does the child in your care need a 504? How about an IEP? Are you hearing different things from different people about what the child needs? Join us as we welcome special education attorney Jacque Phillips to cut through all the noise and help us understand what is most important when navigating the education of the children in our care. Participants will learn about federal laws under IDEA, as well as Colorado-specific statutes, to better understand how education rights are protected. The course covers important processes such as Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and emphasizes the caregiver’s role in advocating for their child's needs. Additionally, caregivers will gain knowledge about procedural safeguards and dispute resolution options. Ultimately, this training aims to empower foster and kinship caregivers with the tools and understanding needed to ensure that children receive the appropriate educational supports and services they deserve.
