Come and get to know your Adams County foster care team. Meet and hear from Kari Daggett, MSW, Deputy Director Children and Family Services. We will be answering your questions, talking about the CHAMPS Colorado initiatives, and the formation of a foster/kinship advisory council for Adams County.

Kari Daggett, MSW (Moderator)

Kari Daggett, MSW is the Deputy Director for the Adams County Human Services Department overseeing the Children and Family Services Division.  The Children and Family Services Division consists of over 280 team members who are charged with ensuring the safety, permanency, and well-being of Adams County’s children, youth, and families.  Prior to coming to Adams County. Kari served as the Deputy Director for the Division of Child Welfare for the Colorado Department of Human Services for two years.  Her responsibilities included strategic planning and practice improvements, developing and leading change management activities, and oversight of policy, legislation, and technical expertise. Prior to her position with the Division of Child Welfare, Kari served for 19 years at the Mesa County Department of Human Services in Grand Junction, Colorado in a variety of positions including caseworker, supervisor, manager, and Child Welfare Director.  Kari has not only dedicated her career to serving vulnerable populations, she has dedicated her career to the leaders serving these most vulnerable populations. Kari’s “why” is to maximize the potential of the people she serves.

Angela Wilson (Moderator)

Supervisor, Foster Care Program Adams County

Angela Wilson supervises the Adams County Foster Care Program.  She leads a team of six certification caseworkers, a case aide, trainer, and foster care recruiter.  Over the last five years, Angela and her team grew the number of certified foster families in Adams County over 40%.  Angela takes pride in her team’s strong work ethic, dependability, responsibility, willingness to learn and integrity.   These values inform her vision for child welfare practice, as well as coaching foster families.  Angela is also a Trainer for the Colorado Child Welfare System, specifically facilitating The Nuts and Bolts of Foster Care Certification throughout Colorado. 

 

Outside of Adams County, Angela is a wife and mom to three daughters-8 year old twins Quinn and Elliott and 10 year old Anderson.  Angela and her family are active members of their church, Highlands Church North Denver, and volunteer together at Casa de Paz.  She enjoys baking, and can always be found in the kitchen during the holidays baking sweet treats with her girls.  While not a nature buff, Angela does join her family once a year for a Colorado staycation camping trip—actual bathrooms required. 

Lindsay Gilchrist (Moderator)

Lindsay Gilchrist is a foster and adoptive parent in Denver County and the Director of CHAMPS Colorado working in close collaboration with Foster Source. Lindsay has worked for over a decade in the government and non-profit sectors advocating for positive public policy change both here in the United States and around the world. In 2012, Lindsay founded Gilchrist & Company with the mission to advance clients’ agendas through advocacy, policy research and analysis, strategic planning, communications support and political strategy. Lindsay previously worked for the U.S. House of Representatives’ Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health, and she also worked as a Special Assistant to the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy, providing recommendations for legislative and communications issues.

Lindsay was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and moved back to Denver in 2016 with her family. She volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) working with youth in foster care. She holds a Bachelor of the Arts in Political Science and Spanish from the University of San Diego and a Masters in Public Policy from UCLA.
